In ayurveda there are three systems vatapitta and kapha.

Imbalance of any of these system, results in overweight or underweight individual.

Poor nutrition, lack of sleep and stress are main reasons for weight loss.

Tips to gain weight in Ayurveda

  • Intake of milk and milk products helps in weight gain according to ayurveda.
  • Sleeping in the afternoon also helps in weight gain
  • Ayurveda suggests ashwagandha, shatari, aamlaki, khadir, brahmi, neem, trifla in combinations to increase weight. These are FDA approved and in form of tablets and capsules.
  • Chyavanprash is also a herbal tonic to increase appetite and better metabolism.
  • Fasting or skipping meals is not advisable by ayurveda
  • Ayurveda recommends having heavy lunch rather than dinner
  • You should have easily digestible foods in breakfast and dinner
  • Increase of toxins in the body help to gain weight ,hence proper cleaning of wastes in the body is essential
  • Exercise regularly according to your body weight
  • Enough sleep daily helps in proper digestion of food
  • Black gram consumption can help in weight gain
