Most people usually have a lot of time in their hands during the holidays. This means that they can afford to over-indulge in food and drinks and just lazing around. This is the perfect combination for unhealthy weight gain. For the underweight people, it might be the solution to what they have been looking for. As such, they may want to keep the weight. But for those people who are within healthy weight ranges, they might want to plan before hand in order to avoid unhealthy weight gain during the holidays.
- Prepare in advance: anticipate the diets that will be available to you during the holidays and be ready with a viable response every time this happens. This however does not mean that you need to starve yourself of the joys that come with the special foods prepared during this time. However, you need to consume such foods in moderation.
- Plan. Research about the foods that will most likely be available to you during the holidays. This will enable you to know the foods that contain high amounts of calories and thus avoid them. In addition, you need to appreciate your weaknesses towards food and thus plan your food enjoyment plan without compromising your weight and by extension your health.
- Create future weight goals: this could include targets such as eating healthy, exercising regularly, drinking adequate amounts of water or keeping off specific foods. You can also engage the help of one of your friends who will help you stick to the weight goals you set. This in turn means that you will be accountable to someone else rather than yourself.
