Omega 3 fatty acids weight gain

in Weight Gain Foods

The main reason fish and fish oil is considered very healthy is because they contain the Omega 3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).  You probably know that there are good and bad fats.  The Omega 3 fatty acids are good acids and fish is the best and most plentiful source of it.

Omega 3 fatty acids are very essential.  Since they are not manufactured by the body, they can only be obtained from other diets.  The problem is that many people trying to gain weight often take very insufficient amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids in their diets.  To make it worse, most of these diets contain large amounts of Omega 6 fatty acids.  The right ratio is supposed to be 2:1 for an average person to ensure a normal and proportional healthy weight gain.
