Thyroid is a small gland located at the tie point in front of the neck. It functions to control the metabolism system in the human body which is responsible for growth. Thyroid controls the structure of bones, sexual development and other body functions.

Types of thyroid:

Thyroids are of two types:

(a)Hypothyroid

(b)Hyperthyroid

Hypothyroid is the most common type which infects the thyroid gland with inflammation and reduces the production of thyroid hormones. Hypothyroid is responsible for causing weight gain and fatigue.

Hyperthyroid enhances the excessive production of thyroid hormones and causes weight loss in human beings. It causes disorder with anxiety, bulging eyes, hypertension and irritability in the human body.

Thyroid causes weight gain:

Thyroid and weight gain shares a complex relationship. If the thyroid glands are not functioning properly then the basal metabolism rate comes down in the human body supplied by the metabolism system. Following mentioned are the observed reasons enhancing the weight gain due to thyroid:

  • Thyroid makes the metabolism system weak which does not support the body functioning and at the same time and results to weight gain.
  • Overeating during the thyroid problem is the major reason for gaining body weight.
  • Lack of the iodine causes Thyroid problem in the human body which reduces the supply of oxygen in the various body party and results to the weight gain as lack of oxygen leads to indigestion of food.

Controlling the weight gain caused by thyroid:

  • Be strict to a particular diet program.
  • Do exercise by consulting with the doctor or physician as this will fulfil the amount of oxygen in your body.
  • Try to maintain the quantity of iodine to stabilize the metabolism system in the thyroid gland.
  • Take your medicines of thyroid regularly.
